JA HEROES Final Conference Marks the Successful Conclusion of the Joint Action
On 7–8 July 2026, the JA HEROES Final Conference brought together around 150 participants in Rome and online to celebrate the successful completion of three and a half years of European collaboration dedicated to strengthening health workforce planning.
The conference was a high-level European event, bringing together project partners, policymakers, researchers, healthcare experts and representatives of key European and national institutions. The event was honoured by the participation of Professor Orazio Schillaci, Italian Minister of Health, Angelo Tanese, Director General of AGENAS, and Marco Marsella, Acting Deputy Director-General of the European Commission’s DG SANTE, highlighting the strategic importance of health workforce planning for Europe’s future.
Across two days, participants reflected on the project’s achievements, explored its lasting impact and discussed how the methodologies, policy recommendations and collaborative networks developed through HEROES will continue to support evidence-informed health workforce planning across Europe.
The Final Conference not only celebrated the project’s achievements but also demonstrated the strong partnerships and shared commitment built among the 19 participating countries, ensuring that the HEROES legacy will continue beyond the formal conclusion of the Joint Action.
